Tummy tuck surgery explained

tummy tuck surgery COMPLETE ABDOMINOPLASTY

Complete tummy tucks or abdominoplasty involves the following:

-An incision from the sides of the hip, all the way across, just above the pubic region

-Another incision to free the navel from the surrounding area of skin

-The skin will be detached from the abdominal wall to help reveal the skin, muscles and fascia that need to be tightened. The walls of the muscle fascia will be tightened by sutures.

-Remaining fat and skin are tightened by removing the excess and then closing the defected areas during the tummy tuck surgery

-The old belly button stalk is brought out and through a new hole it will be sutured into place

-Liposuction is used to provide further fat removal and abdominal sculpture. It is also used to refine the transition zones and help them look more natural

-A compression garment is applied. Excess fluid will be removed from the site by drainage.
